Fire/Rescue Engine
A fire engine is the workhorse vehicle of the fire service. CVFD engines have a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pump, 1,000 gallons of water, Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS), 600 feet of attack hose, 600 feet of medium-diameter supply hose, 1,000 feet of large-diameter supply hose, ground ladders, basic forcible-entry tools, advanced extrication equipment, basic and advanced life-support medical equipment and other firefighting and rescue tools.
Command Vehicles
Command vehicles are staffed by chief officers who are responsible for operational command-and-control functions at fire scenes and other large-scale events.
Ladder Truck
A ladder truck is designed to support an engine company. CVFD has a “Quint” which has a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump, 500 gallons of water, 600 feet of attack hose, 1,000 feet of large-diameter supply hose, 105-foot aerial ladder with elevated master stream capability, ground ladders, basic forcible-entry tools, extrication equipment and basic life-support medical equipment.
Ambulance
An ambulance is a dedicated vehicle to support the medical needs of both citizens and firefighters. Advanced life-support equipment including cardiac monitor/defibrillator, oxygen equipment, physician-authorized pharmaceuticals, IV supplies, cardiac resuscitation equipment, multi-casualty supplies and basic firefighter personnel protective equipment is carried on CVFD ambulances.
Water Tender
Water tenders serve a dual role of transporting water to a fire scene where there are no fire hydrants, and to fight crop and wildland fires. These vehicles are all-wheel drive, have a 500 GPM pump with CAFS, bumper turret, and 2,500 gallons of water with ability to off-load water into portable tanks within 60 seconds. A turbo-draft allowing drafting up to 150 feet from the water source, 600 feet of attack hose, and wildland firefighting tools complete the equipment.
Brush Truck
This all-wheel-drive wildland fire engine has a 150 GPM pump, 300 gallons of water, 1,200 feet of wildland attack hose, pump and roll capability, and other basic wildland firefighting equipment.
Support Truck
The support truck provides CVFD emergency personnel with the tools found on a ladder truck as well as breathing air support, illumination, and a place for providing rehab, medical monitoring, and nutritional support for personnel during extended operational periods.
